Mani Monday

For this week’s mani, I used my two newest Holo Taco shades, from their recent limited edition Holo Royalty release: “Blush Money” and “Inside Job.” I especially love the square glitters in the purple polish!

Sartorial Saturday–A Tartan Jumpsuit

I have been waiting (somewhat) patiently for the number one item on my wishlist from the Miss Candyfloss “Viva Rita” collection to be released, and she’s finally here! The Acantha-Fire jumpsuit has a beautiful tartan bodice with tulip sleeves, and wide-leg pants in the most gorgeous shade of violet:

I accessorized with a an eye-catching Erstwilder brooch in green and a stack of Splendette Duchess Bangles:

I love the colors of the tartan…they’re so pretty, and offer great options for accessorizing!

According to their website, this jumpsuit runs a little small, but my normal size was the perfect fit for me!

You can see the detail on the sleeves better from the back:

I love the cut and color of this beautiful piece!

This was my favorite item from the collection, but there are still a few other lovely pieces I’m still waiting for!

2023-24 School Year–Week Thirty-Two

We finished the final chapter of the 2023-24 school year!

Ladybug wrapped up a few final things this week. She read about magnetism in physics. In history, she read about Joan of Arc, Henry VII, and the fall of Constantinople. She read some literary selections from the Restoration and Neoclassical Age, including Phillis Wheatley’s “To S.M., A Young African Painter, On Seeing His Work.”

Chickadee finished her math curriculum by learning how to calculate simple interest with i=prt. She completed her final writing assignment about African and Asian elephants and their habitats. She also completed her grammar review for the year. We read about Paul’s missionary journeys and trip to Rome.

We had one final field trip for the 2023-24 school year…we attended the final History Exploration Day for the year at the Missouri History Museum, which focused on recreation, which is both a fun and serious topic, as we looked not only at how people enjoyed recreation in the past, but also who wasn’t welcome at various locations.

And one last fun activity before the end:

On to the summer…there’s a lot we’re looking forward to, including the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games!

17 (Going on 18)

Today is Ladybug’s 17th birthday! She got up extra early this morning so we could get a start on celebrating, especially opening presents, before Moose left for school!

I was so excited about our gift to her…she received her first dirndl!

A lot of her birthday ended up being Lilo and Stitch themed (with a good helping of Tron Legacy and Star Wars: The Bad Batch thrown in).

She asked for pineapple salsa from the Lilo and Stitch Cookbook for lunch:

She picked dinner recipes from cookbooks that reflect her various interests…honey lemonade from The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Online Cookbook, spinach salad with shallot vinaigrette from Destiny: The Official Cookbook, and 626 Experimental Fried Rice from the Lilo and Stitch Cookbook.

Her birthday cake, a guava celebration cake, was also from the Lilo and Stitch Cookbook:

We had a really fun day, and I loved having a chance to celebrate another year of this beautiful life for my daughter!

Zenit

I love walking around Citygarden in downtown St. Louis and admiring all the sculptures. If you want to see “Zenit” up close, you have to put a little effort in, because it requires a climb up a short, but rather steep, hill!

Mani Monday

My younger son’s high school graduation is still over a week away, but tonight is Senior Honors Night at his school, so I decided to do a mani in his school colors. I also modeled it with the “Mighty Maroon” medal he was awarded last year, and for which he’ll be recognized tonight and also wear at graduation. I chose Holo Taco’s “Black Holo Wish” as an accent color and “Crimson Void” to represent his main school color:
